TITLE
What Can Therapy Help Us With?
We don’t need a psychiatric diagnosis to benefit from therapy.
DESCRIPTION
Often the question arises: “How do I know if I need psychotherapy? I’m not (colloquial for psychiatric diagnosis).” This excellent article describes different scenarios and situations that would help answer the questions regarding when therapy is needed and how it can be helpful. The article discusses several signs that would indicate both the need for therapy and/or the need to discuss issues with a professional. These include: “eruptions of anger, depression, being constantly worried, sleeplessness, self-imposed isolation, lack of interest in life, and life seemingly working against us.” Additionally the article also includes such issues as: “repeating patters, anxiety, addiction, grief, eating issues, relationship issues, sexual issues, and family issues as well. It is a well written article that would be useful in conjunction with chapters on health, positive psychology, disorders, and therapy.
