Challenging myths: Job options are more diverse than you think

Your Psychology background prepares you for many career opportunities.

DESCRIPTION

This is a straight to the point article aimed at those thinking about a possible career in the field of Psychology.   It covers a few of the myths (distortions) about what careers Psychology majors can enter with just a BA/BS degree as well as graduate degrees.  “At all degree levels, there are clusters of leadership positions, such as top-level managers and executives, education administrators, and medical and health services managers (APA, 2018b). True, students and those early in their careers may not have demonstrated experience in leadership. One way to expand options is to consider leadership potential. This could include serving as an informal mentor or being involved in a student organization. By building skills and seeking experiences that show leadership potential, you are preparing yourself for the future.”  The article also lists a number of fields that a holder of a Psychology degree can find employment.   The article ends with pointing to really fabulous resources regarding careers in the field.
