TITLE

The Distorted Reflections of an Eating Disorder

DESCRIPTION

This is a fascinating first person account of her development of an eating disorder from early adolescence into adulthood.  The story is heartfelt in how over time the cognitive distortion of bodily distortion affected her life.  The story ends on a positive note as the author navigates her life challenges to overcome the eating disorder.

This is an excellent account of how an eating disorder can affect a person’s life.  The article can be used in a discussion of eating disorders as well as cognitive distorted self perceptions.  Perhaps providing a “warning” for students struggling with an eating disorder would be appropriate for some classes.
