The engaging article discusses AVIOPHOBIA better known as fear of flying. The author discusses the various reasons both rational and irrational as well as do’s and don’ts to cope with flying. The last paragraph focuses more specifically on “exposure therapy” to overcome this fear. This very short article will generate a good discussion and can be used to move students from a subjective state to a more objective Psychological understanding. The article also contains a brief interesting video.

This is an engaging article for a Psychology class in that it alternates between explaining stress eating from both a physiological basis and also from a more Psychological perspective. If used as an engaging exercise, students can be asked to list the Psychological reasons for stress eating, then what they believe is happening physiologically. The article provides data from surveys and studies as well. A discussion can be opened to examine how Psychologists explain this phenomenon and then direct students toward an objective understanding. This article can be used as a trigger piece in both the beginning of the term looking at scientific explanations as well as in the biological bases and motivational bases of behavior. The article also contains a brief interesting video.
